If a lemon or potato clock leave you craving more, how about trying a banana or an orange? This clock and calendar combination uses the power of any household fruit or vegetable in place of a standard battery. Think about the dinner table conversation you can have when you hook up your leftover dinner to these jumper wires. Now the kids don’t have to hide their fruits and veggies under the table or feed them to the dog! Recommended for children ages 8 and up.
 
How does it work?
 
The fruit clock is a fun and easy way to teach students the scientific principles behind single cell batteries and how they store energy. The fruits and vegetables act in the same manner as a regular battery with a much more intriguing approach! You can also use this clock to teach important lessons about renewable resources and the importance they will play in our future.
